The Design School at ASU welcomes new assistant professor of architecture
Dongwoo “Jason” Yeom has joined The Design School at Arizona State University as assistant professor in the architecture faculty.
“We are very excited to have Jason join the program,” said Marc Neveu, head of the architecture program. “His teaching and research will continue to lead the conversation around energy and environment.”
Yeom’s research to date investigates the relationship between indoor environment, human physiological responses and occupants’ productivity as well as the methodology to use human physiological signals as an indoor environment control factor.
“My research is not just about design or engineering, and it requires more, such as human productivity and health,” Yeom said. “Interdisciplinary thinking is critical to this field of research, and ASU has a great reputation for innovation in this regard. I look forward to being part of those innovations and moving the field further.”
Yeom completed his undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies at Ajou University in Korea and conducted his postdoctoral research at California State Polytechnic University Pomona and the University of Southern California. Prior to joining ASU, he worked as an assistant professor of architecture at Lawrence Technological University in Michigan. He is an active member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-conditioning Engineers, the Society of Building Science Educators, the Building Technology Educators’ Society and the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association. His work has been published in various peer reviewed journals, including Building and Environment, Energy and Buildings, and Indoor and Built Environment.
Outside of the university, Yeom enjoys traveling and being outdoors to recharge, and said he looks forward to exploring the natural wonders that Arizona has to offer.
