Experience the beauty and power of ASU School of Music’s 2016–17 Organ Series
Come relish the majestic virtuosity of the organ at the 2016–2017 Organ Series, presented by the ASU School of Music, in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Performances will showcase a range of music from a range of places, from baroque Germany to the Sonoran Desert, and even include some cherished Christmas melodies. All seven programs take place in the ASU Organ Hall on ASU’s Tempe campus.

Virtuosi of the Organ
ASU alumna So-Yi Ahn performs organ works by Bach, Bruhns, Mendelssohn and Duruflé.
Sunday, Nov. 6, 2:30 p.m. – Albie Micklich, bassoon, with Kimberly Marshall
Double the Reeds, Double the Fun!
ASU Bassoon professor Albie Micklich joins Kimberly Marshall in a program featuring both the Fritts and Traeri organs.
Sunday, Nov. 20, 2:30 p.m. – Leon W. Couch II
Buxtehude and His Influence
An expert on rhetoric in Buxtehude, Leon Couch will contextualize his organ music with pieces by Pachelbel, Eben and Bach.

Christmas Classics
Enjoy your Christmas favorites in this program of seasonal organ music, with Melanie Holm, soprano. The glorious music and festively decorated Organ Hall are sure to get you in the Christmas spirit!

Flores del Desierto: Organ Works of the Sonoran Desert
ASU alumna Emma Whitten performs works evoking the landscape and Spanish colonial history of the Desert Southwest.
Sunday, Feb. 26, 2:30 p.m. – Alan Morrison
A Bach Family Tree
Alan Morrison, professor of organ at the Curtis Institute and Westminster Choir College, presents the music of Johann Sebastian Bach alongside works by Bach’s uncle, cousins and sons.
Sunday, Mar. 26, 2:30 p.m. Woosug Kang
An Organ Fantasy
A native of New Zealand, organist Woosug Kang explores the “Fantasie” genre with music from several centuries.
