Soltero selected as architecture honor awards jury member

Ed Soltero is one of nine jury members selected for the American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2014 Institute Honor Awards for Architecture. Soltero is the ASU university architect, and the only university architect represented on the jury. He also is one of three members on the jury list from the West Coast, and is the only architect listed from Arizona.

“Appointment to a coveted spot on the awards jury is a prestigious honor,” Soltero said. “The other jury members are world-renowned architects and I am honored to be the only university architect to join them. I feel privileged to be able to judge the best work of American architects on both a national level and on their work abroad.”

At the AIA headquarters in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 5-6, Soltero will convene with his fellow jury members to select the award winners. He will be responsible for reviewing all submissions in the Institute Honor Awards for Architecture category. Each submission is considered for an award based on its individual requirements and does not compete with other submissions.

The first 2014 issue of AIArchitect magazine will list the official award recipients. A celebration is scheduled in Chicago from June 26-28, 2013.

The Institute Honor Awards for Architecture began in 1949. According to the AIA website, “The American Institute of Architects has a long tradition of recognizing individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievements in support of the profession of architecture and the AIA.” For more information, visit the AIA website.
