Parking and Transit unveils benefactor program to offer exclusive parking spot for 2 Sun Devils
Parking and Transit Services (PTS) announces a new initiative that allows PTS to give back to the ASU community and lets two lucky Sun Devils bid for the chance to win reserved parking spaces in one of the most strategically located parking structures closest to the core of the Tempe campus.
Through the PTS Benefactor Program, an ASU organization will receive the entire monetary funds from the auction of two parking stalls on the Tempe campus plus the monthly revenue from two Tempe campus meters, beginning in September 2012 for the subsequent 11 months. Possible beneficiaries were identified by PTS with the guideline that the recipient be an ASU community organization that improves the lives of its students and contributes to the advancement of ASU. Moving forward, an official application process will be available for any interested ASU organization for 2013-2014 and beyond.
PTS narrowed their list of organizations to four finalists. The four finalists were then given the opportunity to submit a proposal detailing what they would do with the awarded funds. After careful review of each proposal, the recipient for this inaugural year is ASU’s American Dream Academy.
All Sun Devils are invited to contribute to the program by participating in the parking space auction. For the first time ever, PTS is auctioning two permits that will provide exclusive access to reserved parking spaces for the 2012-2013 permit year. The two stalls up for auction are located in the LDS Institute parking structure on McAllister Avenue, just north of Terrace Road. All current Sun Devils – staff, faculty and students – are invited to place a bid. The minimum bid is $720, which is the price of a permit in comparable parking stalls.
The auction begins on April 11 and will close at noon, May 3. To submit a bid, please include your first and last name, and your ASU I.D. number, along with your bid to BenefactorProgram@asu.edu. The current highest bid can be found on the PTS Benefactor webpage at http://cfo.asu.edu/pts-about-benefit.
