Lynk presents paper at ABA conference on professional responsibility

Professor Myles Lynk, chair of the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Professional Discipline, recently delivered a paper and talk at the 38th National Conference on Professional Responsibility, sponsored by the ABA’s Center for Professional Responsibility. The conference was held from May 30 to June 2.

Lynk is the Peter Kiewit Foundation Professor of Law and the Legal Profession, and an affiliate faculty member in Justice and Social Inquiry at the ASUSchool of Social Transformation.

His presentation, “The ABA Model Rules for Lawyer Disciplinary Enforcement: A Look Back and Plans for the Future,” was part of a panel that examined the subjects that need to be addressed in any review of, and amendment to, the Model Rules for Lawyer Disciplinary Enforcement.

Lynk also chaired the meeting of the Coordinating Council of the Center for Professional Responsibility and co-chaired a workshop of members from the Standing Committee on Professional Discipline and the Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility. At the workshop, members examined possible amendments to the Model Judicial Code to address issues that arise in states where judges are elected, surrounding the disqualification of judges from cases in which the parties or their lawyers have contributed to the judge’s election campaigns.

Lynk's areas of interest include business and corporate law, civil procedure, legal ethics and professional responsibility, bioethics in health care and law and literature. In 2008-2009 he was a Visiting Honors Faculty Fellow in ASU’s Barrett, The Honors College. In 2010 he received the Outstanding Faculty Award from the College of Law’s Alumni Association. From 2004 to 2010 he served as ASU’s NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative.
