Hinshaw delivers annual lecture in Ohio

Art Hinshaw, clinical professor in the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, delivered the annual Lawrence Negotiation Lecture at the Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University on Sept. 19.

In his lecture, “Learning and Understanding Negotiation Ethics,” Hinshaw shared the results of his survey work on a negotiation ethics questionnaire. He found that first-years performed better on the negotiation ethics questionnaire than third-year students within one month of law school graduation. 

Based on these results, Hinshaw discussed an unexpected role law school can play in students’ ability to negotiate ethically. He then made several suggestions for curricular change. 

Hinshaw is active in the alternative dispute resolution community, having served on several academic and professional committees at the state and national levels. Currently, he serves as a member of the American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Mediator Ethical Guidance. Additionally, he is a senior fellow at the Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution at the University of Missouri School of Law and is a contributor to Indisputably, the alternative dispute resolution professor blog.
