Gubler speaks on Arizona State Bar panel

Zachary Gubler, associate professor in the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, participated in a Sept. 13 panel on business law organized by the Arizona State Bar.

The panel discussed new measures recently adopted by the Securities and Exchange Commission that now allow businesses to engage in general solicitations and advertising in raising capital through private placements of securities.

The new measures are part of Rule 506, the most recent addition to Regulation D, which contains the rules providing exemptions from Securities Act registration.

Local practitioner and U.S. Congressman David Schweikert, who played an important role in developing the legislation that ultimately lead to the rule change, joined Gubler on the panel.

Gubler joined the ASU law faculty in 2011 after having spent two years at Harvard Law School as a Climenko Fellow. Prior to transitioning to the academy, he served as a law clerk for Judge Richard C. Wesley of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and worked as a corporate associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York City. Gubler graduated in 2005 from Harvard Law School, where he served as an articles editor of the Harvard Law Review.
