Graduate College awards fellowships in diverse, interdisciplinary fields
Innovative and multidisciplinary research earned 19 doctoral candidates at Arizona State University a Graduate College Dissertation Fellowship to complete their post-candidacy doctoral work.
Dissertation Fellowships are awarded across five areas: arts, humanities and social sciences; natural sciences and mathematics; engineering; professional programs and education; and interdisciplinary research.
"These fellowships are highly competitive," says Andrew Webber, associate vice provost. “They reward doctoral candidates who are doing original research at a very high level.”
The dissertation research spans such diverse subjects as ways to reduce food and waste behaviors among youth by fusing education, sustainability, and behavioral psychology methods; understanding Native American and Artic art as visual aids to oral histories, women’s poetry during the Harlem Renaissance, and the ethics of clinical drug trials in developing nations.
