Get in Gear with fellow Sun Devils in bicycle registration contest
In an effort to thwart theft and to build safety awareness, the ASU Police Department is holding the Get in Gear bicycle registration contest Oct. 8-Nov. 12. Registration is free and can be done easily online.
Bicycle registration provides a record of ownership and can aid in the recovery of a stolen bicycle.
“ASU community members should register their bicycles to help protect their property,” said Jim Hardina, ASU Police Department assistant chief. “Despite recent bicycle theft arrests we’ve made during the past few weeks, it’s important for bicyclists to remain vigilant.”
The Get in Gear contest runs from Oct. 8 to midnight, MST, Nov. 12. ASU students, faculty and staff are eligible to enter the contest if they register their bicycle during the contest time frame, or if they’ve registered it with the ASU Police Department since Aug. 17, 2012.
During the contest period, two prizes will be awarded each week and winners will be notified via email. One lucky contest winner will win a grand prize each semester the contest is held. Get in Gear contest prizes include:
• bicycle safety kits provided by ASU Parking and Transit
• ASU-branded shirts provided by Sun Devil Campus Stores
• gift cards for Sun Devil Campus Stores and local retailers provided by the ASU Office of Business and Finance
