College of Law arbitration team competes in Denver
A team of five students from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law participated in the 54th Phillip K. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Denver on Feb. 14-17.
The competition is the world's largest moot court competition, with participants from more than 550 law schools in more than 80 countries. It involves mock disputes between countries before the International Court of Justice. One team is allowed to participate from every eligible school. Teams prepare oral and written pleadings arguing both sides of each case.
The College of Law team includes second-year students Trevor Cox, Chase Haslam, Adiba Jurayeva, Michael O'Boyle and Morgan Rucker.
Jurayeva was named ninth best speaker, and Cox was named 10th best.
The team was awarded Top Overall Memorial on a complex problem involving questions of statelessness, refugees, and sovereign default in the context of global climate change.
