Chodorow interviewed on Sunday Square Off

Professor Adam Chodorow recently was interviewed on Sunday Square Off about the possible merger between two of the nation’s largest airlines, and a federal lawsuit being brought against them.

U.S. Airways and American Airlines announced an $11 billion merger in February, which was met with a lawsuit from the U.S. Department of Justice to block the merger.

Chodorow says the Justice Department is worried the merger will leave the United States with only three ‘legacy airlines’ instead of four, which could lead to higher prices and higher service fees.

“The last merger in the door gets a lot more scrutiny than the earlier mergers,” said Chodorow, explaining why the federal government has allowed mergers in the past without issue.

Chodorow’s research and teaching interests lie in tax, administrative and regulatory law. He teaches a variety of tax courses, as well as Law and the Regulatory State. His research focuses on religious taxation and a variety of contemporary tax issues, such as the taxability of virtual income.
