Buel honored at 2012 Abely Awards
Sarah Buel, clinical professor of law and founding director of the Diane Halle Center for Family Justice, was honored at the Sanctuary for Families’ Center for Battered Women's Legal Services 2012 Abely Awards, Sept. 24, in New York City.
Sanctuary for Families joined Columbia Law School in saluting individuals who have made a difference in the lives of victims of domestic violence. Buel was selected for the Abely Award for Leading Women and Children to Safety, which honors individuals making a difference in the lives of victims of domestic violence and embodying Maryellen Abely’s compassion, zeal, energy and dedication.
Buel has worked for more than 30 years with battered women and children. She graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School, where she founded the Harvard Battered Women’s Advocacy Project, the Harvard Women in Prison Project, and the Harvard Children and Family Rights Project.
