ASU's Leon Igras receives lifetime achievement award
Leon Igras, director of Environmental Health and Safety at ASU, received a Lifetime Achievement award this spring from SEHSA, the international Environmental Safety and Health Association for High Technology. Igras travelled to San Jose, Calif. during April to receive the award at the association’s 34th Annual International High Technology ESH Symposium and Exposition.
The award recognizes Igras’ dedication to high-technology safety and to SEHSA during the past five decades. Over the years, Igras has held many administrative positions with SEHSA. He was regional director for the SEHSA Upper Midwest and New England sections, served on the organization’s board of directors, and was SEHSA president. The lifetime award honor recognizes his efforts for SEHSA as well as his dedication to high-technology safety.
“Leon’s lifetime achievement award not only is commendable in its own right, but demonstrates his commitment to health-and-safety industry practices, which strengthens his stewardship of the Environmental Health and Safety department and its reach across our four campuses,” says John Riley, acting associate vice president of University Business Services at ASU.
