ASU Teachers College to host conference for K-20 educators

National and international educational leaders Dr. Pasi Sahlberg, Dr. Milton Chen, Myron Dueck, Marco Torres, Dr. Taryl Hansen and Dr. Guy Doud will be among those delivering keynotes, presentations and facilitating workshops at the “Excellence in Education: Building a Brighter Future” conference on Sept. 22-23 at the Phoenix Convention Center in downtown Phoenix.

The two-day event, hosted by ASU's Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College and grant programs staff, is geared toward K-20 educators, with a focus on aspects of the Teacher Incentive Fund grant, Arizona Ready-for-Rigor Project, iTeachAZ and other successful educational programs.

Along with the general assembly presentations, educators from around the country, ASU faculty and staff, grant partnering districts and schools, and community educational leaders will present more than 40 breakout sessions on topics such as:

• Fast & Slow Learning in the 21st Century: Exploring Ideas & Tools for Improving Educational Reform, Teaching & Learning
• One-on-One Professional Development: Supporting Teachers After Evaluations
• Creativity in Assessment
• Aligning & Monitoring Formative Data to Summative Data
• Distributed Leadership in School Leadership Teams – Principals’ Perspective

In addition, there will be a track on the Teachers College iTeachAZ program for universities and colleges interested in implementing the teacher preparation program at their school.
