Amy Hillman, professor and former dean of the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, was named the new president of the Academy of Management (AOM) at the organization’s annual conference in early August. The one-year position puts Hillman at the helm of the preeminent association for management and organization scholars in the world with over 20,000 members from 115 countries.

“The opportunity to lead AOM is an honor and a privilege. Some of my scholarly role models have helped build the AOM into the esteemed organization it is today, and I am humbled to work alongside so many brilliant colleagues to shape and hone the management discipline,” said Hillman.

Hillman, who also serves as the Rusty Lyon Chair of Strategy, ASU Foundation Professor and director of W. P. Carey’s New Governance Lab, began her tenure on the AOM’s executive board in 2019. She is a former editor of the Academy of Management Review and a former associate editor of the Academy of Management Journal. She was also named a fellow of the Academy of Management in 2014 and a fellow of the Strategic Management Society in 2020.

“We are incredibly proud of Amy Hillman’s appointment as president of AOM,” said W. P. Carey Dean Ohad Kadan. “The AOM is a premier academic organization, and Amy will surely lead it to continued excellence while also serving as a wonderful ambassador for our school.”
