March 8 is International Women's Day, a time to champion gender equity and female empowerment around the globe and to ask ourselves what we can do to create a more equitable world for all.
This year's theme is #ChooseToChallenge: "A challenged world is an alert world, and from challenge comes change," according to the IWD website.
The organizers behind International Women's Day also have named six key mission areas to celebrate women's achievements and increase visibility, while calling out inequality: celebrate tech women and innovation, applaud equality for women in sport, educate women on health choice decisions, build inclusive workplaces so women thrive, increase visibility of women creatives and forge women’s empowerment worldwide.
These six Sun Devils who are at the forefront of doing just that offered their perspectives on gender equality, shared their advice to young women in college now and commented on what work is still to be done.
