Xiangyuan Huang
Xiangyuan Huang, a Bachelor of Arts in violin performance student in the School of Music, placed second in the strings division of the national 2014/2015 Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Young Artist Performance Competition.
Huang was awarded $1,500 and performed at the winners' concert after competing against finalists from across the U.S. during the MTNA national conference in Las Vegas, March 21-25, 2015.
Born in Beijing, China, Huang began studying the violin at the age of five. She has received many accolades for her virtuosity on the violin, including winning first prize in the Youth Soloist Competition in Beijing, performing as a young artist concerto soloist in Vivaldis Four Seasons at the Harpa International Music Academy in Iceland, and enjoying a successful debut performance in Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in 2014.
"Performing is not only a display of technical preciseness and brilliance," Huang says, "but also a presentation of various interpretations and understanding of the music, as well as personality as a performer." She is currently studying with associate professor of violin, Danwen Jiang
