Ng Wang Feng
Ng Wang Feng, an alumna of the School of Music who graduated in 2003, is a board-certified music therapist currently working in Singapore. Ng recently had a chapter published in a book on the arts in Singapore, "Art Hats in Renaissance City: Reflections & Aspirations of Four Generations of Art Personalities."
Her piece, "The girl with the fretboard and the boy in the wheelchair," was picked up by her local newspaper, The Straits Times, which provided excerpts from the book. Ng's story chronicles her work with several clients whose lives were changed through music.
"I have found it most rewarding to witness the immense joy that music brings," says Ng when asked about the most inspiring aspect of being a musical therapist. "When I was presented with the opportunity to contribute a chapter to the book, I wanted to share the powerful effects of music therapy, in order to generate more interest in this field that is already gaining momentum in Singapore."
Ng is the founding president of the Association for Music Therapy (Singapore) and is a professional member of the American Music Therapy Association.
