Dale Dreyfoos

Dale Dreyfoos, professor of opera and music theatre in the School of Music, appeared in the American Operatic Premiere of Emerich Kalman's "Arizona Lady" with Arizona Opera, which opened in Tucson and in Phoenix in early October. Dreyfoos played the cameo role of Peligreen, a drunken jailer. Arizona Lady marked Dreyfoos' fourth appearance with Arizona Opera; he previously performed the roles of Ambrogio in Rossini's "The Barber of Seville," Negus in Lehar's "The Merry Widow" and The Duchess of Krackenthorpe in Donizetti's "The Daughter of the Regiment."

Dreyfoos was joined in the cast of "Arizona Lady" by several ASU alumni and current students: conductor Kathleen Kelly, Paul Nicosia in the role of Danny, assistant stage manager Brandon Ehrenreich, and chorus members Alexis Davis, Ryan Glover, Elisabeth Heinrichs, John Kraft, Jennifer Jones, Rhea Miller, Belinda Paige, Miriam Schildkret, Jeff Stevens and Emily Williams.

"It was such a pleasure to perform again with Arizona Opera," says Dreyfoos. "Most fun of all was the chance to appear onstage with 10 of my former ASU students and one current ASU student, so it all felt like coming back home again."
