Sonoran Chamber Music Series resumes for 2015 with performances, master classes

The ASU School of Music in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts announces the Sonoran Chamber Music Series concert series in Katzin Concert Hall.

In its sixth season of the program, the Sonoran Chamber Music Series creates a vibrant chamber music community in Tempe, Ariz., where world-renowned musicians and chamber music lovers gather to celebrate, to sustain and to share personal connections with chamber music. Through each concert performance and public master class, this chamber music series strives to build a community that appreciates the aesthetics of chamber music and each performer’s unique devotion to excellence, as well as to celebrate the practices of the deeper human connection and engagement through music.

“Whether the performance takes place in someone’s living room, in the gallery or in the concert hall, the Sonoran Chamber Music Series creates a unique community experience by cultivating individual artistic and unique connections between the Series musicians and audience through a shared love for chamber music," said Tom Landschoot, founder and artistic director of the Sonoran Chamber Music Series and ASU School of Music cello professor.

Besides regular season performances, the Sonoran Chamber Music Series musicians also offer master classes to students in the ASU School of Music. These master classes not only offer enormous educational value to young musicians, but also provide effective and long-term professional development opportunities to students in our School of Music community. All master classes are free and open to the public and take place at 4 p.m. on the Friday before the concert at the ASU School of Music.

Joining Landschoot during the 2014-15 Sonoran Chamber Music Series season are Paul Rosenthal, violinist and founder of the Alaska Sitka Summer Music Festival; Robert Moeling, Dutch pianist; Ivo-Jan van der Werff, violist with the Medici String Quartet; Dina Vainshtein, Russian-born pianist; Mark Peskanov, violinist and the president, executive and artistic director of Bargemusic; Doris Stevenson, pianist and Phoenix native; Rina Dokshitsky, Israeli pianist and Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition prize winner; Henry Gronnier, violinist with the Rossetti String Quartet French; and Victor Santiago Asuncion, renowned pianist.

The Sonoran Chamber Music Series presents five concerts at Katzin Concert Hall. The season’s remaining concerts are:
