"Year One: Life at ASU" is a periodic photo series following five freshmen navigating their first year at ASU. This installment checks in on Sabrina Haines and the student-athlete's study hall sessions.
Part of the freshmen experience is the freedom of finding your own routine, one not limited by the imposed structures of parents or high school. Although ASU's student-athletes live their own lives, their freshmen experience is a little more bound by structure as these ultra-busy students have days where nearly every minute is scheduled – from classes to practices to training to study sessions.

Haines checks in with the monitor at the study hall to do her homework. ASU's student-athletes have scheduled study sessions here, where they're required to spend chunks of time hitting the books. The sessions require these students to focus on their work, but they also provide a sense of community as student-athletes from all sports come together.

Haines, a Phoenix native who was a basketball star at Desert Vista High, is studying to be a sports journalist in the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
